Cultivation

• from rootstocks only (Míscanthus rhizomes)
• mid-April to early June
• prick out rootstocks at 5-8 cm depth and roll soil well
• planting distance 1 to 1 m

Fertilization

• not necessary
• however, some nitrate fertilizer (40kg) will further increase yields
• potassium fertilizer will increase the plant's stability (ash recirculation)
• do not fertilize in the first year after planting!

Pest Management

• necessary only in the first year after planting
• corn pest management options are relatively unproblematic
• for organic farming: white clover undersowing; mechanical options such as hoe
